You can find out more about our Scoutmoor Quarry in this video.We're now recruiting for a Block Splitter / Dimensional Stone Operative to join our team at our Scoutmoor Quarry in Ramsbottom. Previous experience is not essential as we can train you in all things around the Quarry; it’s important to us that you have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, are keen to work hard in an outdoor environment in all weathers and enjoy being part of a close-knit team!What’s the Mission about?You'll work with our small but dedicated team of Quarry Operatives to ensure products are safely loaded and unloaded onto customer vehicles using a variety of mobile plant equipment (Shovel, dumper and excavator). You’ll also be required to carry out different tasks including general maintenance of the plant and equipment and moving stock around the site as we grow even bigger! You will be required to carry out heavy manual work including stone cutting. Previous experience in a quarry environment is essential and internal training will be provided.You’ll learn all about manufacturing techniques, processes, safety, quality waste and OEE too. As part of this learning journey, you’ll develop new skills and experiences which will allow you to operate various aspects of the Quarry including the mobile plant (Shovel, dumper and excavator).What are the mission-critical skills?Previous experience working in a Quarry environment is essentialAble to work on your own or as part of a teamA good understanding of health and safety requirementsThe ability to adapt to operational changes and prioritise work effectivelyKnowledge of general mobile plant maintenance requirements is desirableNVQ Level 2 to operate a mobile plant or a willingness to study for this.A valid MPQC or CPCS licence or equivalent would be useful but not essential.
