The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks a detail oriented and driven Director of Events amp; Conferences. This job reports to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, who oversees the Events amp; Conferences department under the Operations division of PPFA. The Events amp; Conferences department provides comprehensive event planning coordination and support, to include site selection, contract negotiations, vendor management, logistical management, registration, event programming, and event production.Purpose: The Director, Events amp; Conferences will play a pivotal role in leading and building conference and event experiences that engage, educate, and inspire participants, both internally and externally to the organization. The position serves as a thought partner and works with senior leaders across divisions to build a vision for strategic events and, as event producer, brings that vision to life. This position is responsible for building and expanding new programs and initiatives related to Events amp;Conferences and materially expanding the range of services delivered. They will also be responsible for managing a team of Events amp; Conference staff.Delivery : The position will lead the event and conferencing strategy for PPFA and produce events and conferences that shift perceptions, grow relationships, and build the capacity to drive the organization's mission. Success in the role is defined by bringing innovation and creativity into developing compelling and cohesive world-class experiences to PPFA's events and our partners in the community, as well as event experiences that drive PPFA's brand growth.The ideal candidate will be an experienced event producer, as well as a leader and manager of both people and projects, and bring strong organizational skills and top-notch attention to detail to the position. They will have impeccable discretion, a problem-solving mindset, with excellent relationship-building and problem-solving skills. The Director will oversee a team of event producers and managers, leading an exciting portfolio of events, and experiences for multiple divisions with PPFA.This person will plan resources with anticipation of environmental and political dimensions to the project management, as well as alignment of program development and delivery with the National Office and Affiliate needs and expectations.Engagement:This person engages with various stakeholders including National Office staff, Affiliate staff, vendors and contractors. This person acts as an advocate for new approaches to Events amp;Conferences and builds buy-in from various stakeholders. In addition, this individual must work towards building new and engaging relationships and be able to effectively multi-task while providing exemplary customer service.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience required• 10 years of relevant event management and planning experience• 5 years of people management experience, working with direct reports• The ability to navigate challenging situations and personalities with diplomacy and fairness• Excellent attention to detail• A collaborative team player that can work well with cross-divisional teams and stakeholders• Understands and manages competing demands• Works well in a fast-paced environment, while providing exemplary customer service• Track record of improving processes and programs• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders• Strong verbal and written communication• Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple and simultaneous tasks and projects• Knowledge of financial processes, to including budgeting• Ability to negotiate with vendors and partners to ensure the highest value and quality of services for our investments• Strong problem solving skills• Excellent time management skills• High emotional intelligenceTRAVEL: Up to 50%, but may vary to support the needs of the program. Candidates in the NYC or DC area are preferred.The starting salary range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 .*LI-KM1Final offers for this job will be based on capabilities and will be made within the parameters of the PPFA compensation program.
