A high court judge has stressed the need for maintaining high professional and ethical standards in the field of prosecution.

“Like judgeship, the prosecution is also a sacred trust. This profession also requires the same ethical principles, a set of moral and professional standards and guidelines as we have in the judicial profession,” said the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, Hassan Aurangzeb.

He was speaking during the certificate-award ceremony at the conclusion of a three-day capacity building programme, held at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).

On the occasion, certificates were also distributed among participants of a separate training course held on “The role of prosecutors in quick disposal of criminal cases”.

It is imperative for prosecutors to conduct affairs in a professional manner, Aurangzeb stressed.

The IHC judge said that “Fairness is critical to professionalism; a concerted effort must be made to uphold impeccable integrity, to ensure that one is respected by the legal community.”

He said, “Always keep this golden rule of the criminal justice system in mind which is — accused is the most favourite child of law.”
