ISLAMABAD: A senior superintendent of police (SSP) found dead in his room last week had died of heart disease, a forensic report of his death confirmed on Tuesday.
Asher Hameed serving as assistant inspector general (operations) in Islamabad police was found dead in his room inside the police headquarters on July 22.
The AIG was found lying face down on the floor and had appeared to have heavily bled from mouth prior to death.

“Myocardial sections reveal multiple areas of fibrosis suggesting active ischemic heart disease,” said a forensic analysis report by Punjab Forensic Science Agency,” adding “no drug, poison or volatile [substance] in Hameed’s liver.”
According to police officials, Hameed had a family history of heart disease and that both his father and younger brother had died of heart failure.
Officials had earlier said initial examination of the body and the room found no evidence to suggest that the death was unnatural.
A post-mortem was also performed at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) the same day to ascertain the cause of death.

Vice-Chancellor Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Dr Javed Akram had told The Express Tribune there was no [torture] mark on the body externally.
Hameed was transferred to Balochistan police by the Establishment Division few weeks ago but had not moved there and was trying to either get the transfer cancelled or be transferred to Punjab.
Earlier on May 31, SSP of district Jaffarabad Jahanzaib Khan Kakar was found dead in his office with blood-stained uniform and a bullet hole in his temple.
The unresolved case became more complex after forensic experts established murder as the cause of death, with the government later saying it was convinced the officer took his own life.
