KARACHI/HYDERABAD: The elected chairmen and councillors of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) took oath of their offices at a ceremony at Mehran Arts Council on Tuesday. As many as 96 chairmen and 384 councillors were elected from 96 union committees of HMC in October, 2015, local government (LG) elections. The first senior Civil judge, Zahoor Chandio, administered the oath. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement supported by its 79 elected chairmen will easily elect the mayor and deputy mayor for the HMC. Meanwhile, 96 out of 99 candidates elected on reserved seats of the local bodies in Karachi also took oath of their office on Tuesday. Karachi Metropolitan Corporation administrator Laeeq Ahmed administered the oath.
