The fourth edition of the highly-anticipated fashion event of the year — Vogue Wedding Show 2016 — is all set to take place in New Delhi later this week.

Starting from August 5, the three-day bridal extravaganza — to be held at Taj Palace — will feature collections by our very own Misha Lakhani among other renowned names of the Indian fashion industry.

Speaking to Vogue India earlier, the Misha revealed what’s trending these days. “Given changing times where the bride partakes in the festivities and wants to look glorious, there’s a shift towards ease in movement without compromising the grandeur of her jora. Sheer fabrics, unusual colour combinations and additional emphasis in fit and construction are all trending,” she said.

Sharing details about her collection to be showcased this year, Misha said, “2016 bridal collection is a design narrative through historic Mughal legacies, taking the best of different sub-cultures.”

No more the same: The modern bride-to-be

“It pushes the boundaries of craftsmanship across unusual colour and fabric combinations. The bridal ensembles are steeped in tradition and old-world charm, while occasion wear comprises elegant separates that transition effortlessly from day to night—imagine jewelled izaars worn with kurtis and organza wraps, kalidars and Farshi ghararas, Mughal miniature shawls styled with jewelled cholis and muslin ghagras,” she added.

Describing a Misha Lakhani bride, the designer said, “She is in control of her destiny. She’s the bohemian heiress who challenges convention yet loves all things traditional. She’s curious, nostalgic and experimental.”
