SHABQADAR: An online attendance system has been installed at Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Shabqadar.
THQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Fazal Rabi told The Express Tribune online attendance machines have been installed to regularise the attendance of doctors and paramedics staff at the hospital.
“The government has appointed new medical officers,” he said. “However, the hospital is facing a large number of problems. The biggest problem is the non-availability of power supply in the hospital.”
According to Rabi, the facility is facing 20 hours of load-shedding every day.
“The hospital has repeatedly urged Pesco to look into this matter,” he added.
The medical superintendent said the hospital has a generator but cannot afford to pay for its monthly fuel charges.
“Our demand for assistance has fallen on deaf ears,” he added.
Dr Jameel, a urologist, told The Express Tribune the hospital’s operation theatre is non-functional due to the absence of power supply.
“If the matter is resolved, we will be able to perform minor surgical procedures and reduce the burden on hospitals in Peshawar,” Jameel said.
A nurse said the installation of online machine is a positive move.
“However, the hospital has only one labour room,” he said. “Absence of power supply makes the sterilisation of equipment impossible. In such circumstances, what good can a state-of-the-art attendance system do?”
