LAHORE:
Traffic on several city roads remained slow on Saturday as vehicles were diverted towards these roads from The Mall where the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) ended its protest rally in commemoration of killings of its 14 workers in Model Town in 2014. Markets and commercial areas on The Mall remained closed on police directives. Containers and razor wires were placed on roads leading to The Mall. This resulted in additional load of traffic on Queens Road, Temple Road, Lawrence Road, Fane Road, Cooper Road and other adjoining roads. Muhammad Amir, a motorist, said protests and sit-ins had become a routine despite a ban on these activities on The Mall. Some traders on The Mall complained that the city police had issued a directive to them to close down their businesses without first consulting them on the matter.
