LAHORE: The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has started drafting detailed terms of reference (TORs) for setting up police stations for overseas Pakistanis.
OPC Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said that a committee had been set up under the chairmanship of OPC additional director general and DIG Ahmad Mubeen. “The committee includes legal affairs and training additional IGs, additional secretaries of Home, Prosecution and Law Departments and the Regulations Department deputy secretary as its members. The committee has held detailed discussions and recommendations are being finalised now,” he said.
Bhatti said that recommendations for the establishment of police stations would be sent to the chief minister for formal approval. “These stations will be established in Lahore and Rawalpindi in the first phase. IT facilities will be provided to maintain close liaison with expatriate Pakistanis for redress of their grievances,” he said.
“We assure Pakistanis living abroad that their complaints will not be ignored,” he said.
