DERA GHAZI KHAN: A boy was shot dead and two others were injured in a shootout with alleged robbers on Thursday. Police said the boys had accompanied elders of the family during a ‘raid’ at a house where robbery suspects were staying.

On Tuesday, some unidentified men had taken away 9 tola gold jewellery and Rs700,000 from Ghulam Farid’s house in a Kot Mubarik police precinct. Farid had filed a complaint with the police and had later procured sniffer dogs from Okara to look for the suspects himself.

On Thursday, Farid and some other men from the area were led by the dogs to a house where they suspected the robbers lived. Police said Hassan Namardi and Nawaz Sikhani, who lived at that house, shot at Farid and the men accompanying him. Nazar Hussain, 15, Nadeem, 13, and Muhammad Nadir, 18, were shot. Hussain died on the spot. Police took Nadeem and Nadir to the Dera Ghazi Khan Teaching Hospital’s trauma centre. Doctors said their condition was serious.
