PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa arrested Muhammad Aslam on Friday who was allegedly involved in illegally allotting one-kanal and 10-marla commercial plots on Ashraf Road in the city that caused losses worth millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

The commercial plots were the property of Municipal Corporation Peshawar since 1885 which had been collecting rent since 1962.

According to a press release issued, Muhammad Aslam, in connivance with others, first got fake powers of attorney registered from Gujranwala in 2004 and then created a bogus RL-2 by claiming Municipal Committee land through it. He finally got both properties transferred to his name in 2008.

NAB K-P had already arrested Saeed Khan Patwari, Ilyas Patwari, Syed Shakeel Hassan Zaidi, Qamaruddin and Taimur Hassan Amin in the same case.

According to the document, investigation was being carried out and the accused will be produced before the accountability court to obtain his physical remand.

NAB K-P also arrested Muhammad Imran Khan, owner of Al-Madina Property Dealer Peshawar on the same day for allegedly cheating public and looting millions of rupees from them.

The press release stated the accused used to take money from the public in exchange for providing them with low cost plots in Nowshera and Peshawar. Since he had taken money from people but had failed to fulfill his side of the bargain, he was arrested. Imran confessed to his crimes and offered to return looted money to people he had taken it from.

NAB K-P Regional Board Meeting accepted his voluntary return request but he failed to deposit money taken fraudulently.

The accused will be presented before the accountably court for obtaining his physical remand.
