LAHORE: Jamatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed filed a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday seeking directions for the federal government to take up the issue of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) at United Nations Security Council. Advocate AK Dogar, counsel for Saeed, accused India of human rights atrocities in the IHK. He said New Delhi had been violating the resolutions passed by the UN in this regard. He said India had been denying the Kashmiris their right to self-determination. For more than a month now, he said, Indian forces had been killing innocent Kashmiris.
Dogar said this threatened regional peace. “An atomic war cannot be ruled out if the oppression of Kashmiris is not stopped.” He requested the court to order the federal government to take up the issue at the UN Security Council to press India to abide by the resolutions passed in 1948.
