MINGORA: Rescue 1122 was inaugurated in Swat district on Saturday. “The newly inaugurated service was a gift to the people of Swat,” Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said while addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony held in Saidu Sharif.

He highlighted the significance of the service, saying Rescue 1122 spearheaded the operation in the province’s deadliest carnages, at Army Public School in Peshawar and at Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

Also present on the occasion was Rescue 1122 K-P Director General Dr Asad Ali Khan.

“It was the right decision to start the emergency service in Swat as the district has been badly affected by militancy and was also prone to natural calamities,” Asad Ali said. “Rescue 1122 will provide emergency medical care, firefighting service, animal rescue and water rescuing aid to the people of Swat district.”

Earlier, the chief minister also inaugurated a 150-kilowatt mini hydropower project in Lalkoo Sakhra valley, in Matta tehsil.

The project was constructed by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), with financial and technical aid from Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO).
