SHABQADAR: The houses of five suspected militants were demolished by people of Safi tehsil, Mohmand Agency on Tuesday. The decision to raze their houses to the ground was taken during a jirga held in Mamad Ghat, Safi. Speaking to The Express Tribune, tribal elder Malik Azim Khan said houses of at least five suspected militants were demolished in Chamarkand area of Safi tehsil.

“The political administration told us about the anti-state activities,” he said. “We decided to raze their houses in view of the situation.”

Azim Khan added, “We are peace-loving people and will support the political administration in maintaining peace in the country.”

An official told The Express Tribune one of the militants, whose house was demolished, was working as a polio worker in the area. He said the houses were demolished as a response to an IED blast earlier this month in which a security official was killed.
