KARACHI: A devastating spell by Ali Imran Pasha helped PIA restrict Karachi Whites to a low first innings total on the second day of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Pool B fixture at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi yesterday.
Karachi Whites resumed their innings 81-2, but were dismissed for a meager 150 runs in 50.1 overs as Pasha claimed seven scalps, while Najaf Shah picked up the remaining three wickets. At stumps, PIA were batting at 143-8 in their second innings with a lead of 180 runs.
In another match, Rawalpindi resumed their first innings 24-1 but were able to add only 90 more runs to their overnight total as KRL’s Sadaf Hussain took five wickets. At the end of play, KRL were batting at 110-4 in their second innings with a lead of 171 runs.
Aslam the lone warrior for Lahore Whites
Meanwhile in the match between SNGPL and FATA, the former declared their first innings at 493-7. At the end of day’s play, FATA had scored 241-5 and still trailed by 252 runs.
Elsewhere at the Iqbal stadium, Lahore Whites managed 258 runs in their first innings before NBP took the field and were at 193-5 at the end of day’s play with Usman Salahuddin (53) and Qaiser Abbas (42) on the crease.
Quaid-e-Azam Trophy begins today
In Pool A, WAPDA’s Muhammad Irfan took four wickets to bring Lahore Blues down to 104-8 after his team had posted a first innings total of 330 in 93 overs earlier in the day.
In another match, HBL declared their first innings at 462-9 with the help of Imran Farhat (112) and Zohaib Khan (75). In reply, Peshawar were batting at 102-1 when the day ended, with Sahibzada Farhan (55) and Israrullah (35) out in the middle.
