A law student and a true style-star, Nadia Khan breaks down her style for us. She gives us a lesson on choosing trends that suit your body type and tells us why she opts for comfort before anything else!
Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
How would you describe your body type?
Petite! I’m not too tall and have a small frame.
Has your body type changed over the last five years?
My body has matured over the last few years and come more into shape.
How has your style changed over the years?
I think my style is a lot more relaxed now. I used to be obsessed with keeping up with the latest trends, but now I enjoy staying in my comfort zone and experimenting only when I feel confident in what I am wearing.
In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?
I am not very comfortable with showing my thighs! I feel they are a little out of proportion as compared to the rest of my body, so I try to stay away from slim-fit pants.
How do you dress your body according to your body type?
I am always in heels and straight pants. I feel it gives me the height I need. I also prefer wearing loose, flowy tops as I don’t like fitted clothing.
In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?
Sometimes we get carried away with the latest trends and styles around us. I have learnt that it’s very important to be conscious of your body type, age and be comfortable in whatever you wear.
Which silhouettes suit your body the most?
I am not sure what suits my body the most, but I enjoy wearing straight pants with a smart top, and sometimes a well-cut dress too. I feel Alaïa and Self Portrait have the most flattering cuts and fits, and I think anything looks good with heels.
What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?
I would never wear crop tops! I just don’t think they are flattering on anyone.
