RAWALPINDI: The Excise and Taxation Department of Rawalpindi registered 115,354 vehicles in 2017. These included 98,220 motorbikes, 5,946 cars, 6,172 commercial vehicles, 4,608 rickshaws, 342government and 66 semi-government vehicles. Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation Director Tanveer Abbas Gondal said that over Rs220 million in revenue was generated through vehicle registration in the year. New motorbikes being registered contributed over Rs71 million to the provincial exchequer while over Rs76 million in revenue was collected through registration of cars. Registration of commercial vehicles generated over Rs58 million.
