An accountability court, on Tuesday, adjourned the hearing of the assets beyond known sources of income reference against former finance minister Ishaq Dar until January 18.
On December 29, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) barred the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) attempts to extradite Dar. The accountability court had given lawyers for the country’s top graft buster until January 2 to submit a copy of the ruling.
IHC bars NAB from investigating Dar
Dar had pleaded not guilty and is currently standing trial in the NAB reference filed against him in line with the Supreme Court’s July 28 judgment in the Panamagate case.
Ishaq Dar declared proclaimed offender in NAB reference
On September 27 last year, the accountability court indicted Dar for amassing assets beyond his known sources of income. In December, the court declared Dar a proclaimed offender after the former finance minister failed to appear before it despite repeated summons.
