PTI protesters clash with police in Karachi; Arif Alvi briefly detained

KARACHI: Activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), rallying to express their support for sugarcane growers of Nooriabad, clashed with police at Metropole in Karachi on Wednesday night.

The police detained 12 protesters including PTI senior leader Arif Alvi. However, he was later released.

PTI boycotts IMC session, protests water shortage

PTI supporters pelted stones on security forces which led to baton-charge by the police personnel as well as using water cannon to disperse the demonstrators.

The Kisan Insaf Rally had arrived from Hyderabad to the coastal city.

The rally had been organised by the party against the refusal of sugar mills to pay the officially fixed price of the cane crop to growers.
