Bugti to move SC over people’s problems

QUETTA: President of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti has said that his party will continue to struggle for achieving legitimate rights of the Bugti tribe and soon approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan for the purpose.

Speaking at a public meeting in Dera Murad Jamali on Thursday amid tight security, Bugti said hundreds of people from his tribe were sacked from the Uch Gas field and other national institutions without any justification.

“JWP believes in democratic struggle and have always adopted the democratic way to press their demands,” he said.

He said that despite being the main supplier of gas to the whole country, Dera Bugti district was treated unfairly as residents of the area were not getting their due share.

“They are still burning wood for cooking food even though the gas pipeline passes through their villages,” the JWP chief said, adding that he would file a petition in the top court for getting due rights for his people. He added that he would work for his people to get them employed.

Bugti said that despite making promises, the government did nothing for the return of Bugti tribesmen who were displaced to different areas of Sindh and Punjab during operations in the area. He called upon the government to announce financial assistance for the rehabilitation of displaced Bugti tribesmen.

He announced that his party would contest the coming elections from all provinces.

The JWP chief condemned the threats from President Donald Trump against Pakistan and said the US was trying to hide its weaknesses in Afghanistan.

He also warned India against any ‘misadventure’, saying that the Bugti tribesmen would be on the front along with armed forces of the country.

Party’s Secretary General Ibrahim Lehri, Syed Saleh Agha, JWP Punjab President Mian Arshad and other party leaders also spoke on the occasion.
