TURBAT: It is heartening to note that human trafficking incidents witnessed a decline in Balochistan in 2017. This is good news for the provincial government and the people of the province. According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) nearly 8,512 human trafficking cases took place in 2016, while 1,598 complaints were registered against traffickers. However, in 2017 at least 1,620 persons were arrested in the province while trying to cross the border without legal documents and 829 cases registered against them. I appreciate the steps taken by the FIA to curb human trafficking, which is a crime against humanity. It is hoped that during the current year there will be a further decrease in human trafficking cases in the province.
