Rescue officers take part in capacity building course

LAHORE: A four-day course was organised for the capacity building of 24 Rescue and Safety Officers (RSOs) so that they can play a key role in building safer communities by involving Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).

Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said that the basic purpose of running this course was to enhance the capacity of the managers to maintain service standards in all districts of the province.

He asked the SROs to ensure the establishment of community emergency response teams at every union council, have the first aider at every home, impart training to all team members, ensure CADRE training standards and follow directions for execution of CERT plan for 2018.

The DG said that such courses should be organised frequently for the capacity building of the managers because such courses play a vital role in the maintenance of standards of the service and ensure the safety of the communities.

Dr Naseer said that the participants of the course should perform their duties with sincerity, devotion and dedication as changing minds of the community and making them responsible citizen needs role models to be followed for developing safer communities in the country.

The course covered the topics, including common hazards and the community response group, securing family preparing for response, first aid and basic life support, basic search and rescue, management of fire and water  emergencies, incident command system and triage, dead body management followed by practical simulation exercise to assess, analyse and evaluate skills of participants imparted during the training course.

At the end, DG Rescue Punjab distributed commendatory certificates among the participants of the course.
