DPC, JUI-S repose confidence in PTI-led K-P govt

PESHAWAR: The Difa-e-Pakistan Council and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq have expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for Islamisation in the province.

“The past governments could not bring any change as they had no intention to do so, while we are satisfied with the steps taken by the government of PTI which is why we have formed an alliance with them for the upcoming general elections,” Sami said while addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister House on Sunday. He was flanked by K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad.

“PTI is serving Islam and the country,” said Sami, adding that the PTI government laid a good foundation in serving Islam and JUI-S harmonises with PTI.

In his speech, Khattak claimed that his government spent four-and-a-half-year improving the existing system that had been destroyed.

“Corruption had spread in every government department but we improved the system and eliminated corruption,” said Khattak, adding that they started recruitments through National Testing Service.

“We brought reforms in government departments and now all officers and employees are answerable to the public,” he said, adding that they focused on serving Islam and took steps to implement the teachings of Islam in the country.

“Our government introduced Quran Nazira and its translation in educational institutes,” he said. “We started monthly honoraria of Rs10,000 for prayer leaders in the province so that they need not look for collections and donations.”

The K-P CM also claimed that the K-P government was solarising mosques so that they could have uninterrupted power supply.

Taking over the podium, Sheikh Rashid was all praise for PTI Chairman Imran Khan. “Imran is a good friend. It is good that he has gotten married and if not, then it is his personal issue,” he said, adding that the “days from January 10 to February 10 are very important as something important is going to be happen”.
