No senior doctors at Jinnah Hospital

LAHORE: Apparently, the Punjab government is primarily focusing on building roads and improving transport services. As things stand, during the past two tenures of the provincial government, numerous issues pointing at the pathetic condition of public medical facilities have emerged. From frequent young doctors’ strikes to deaths of over 100 patients caused by prescription of a spurious medicine or unattended births, public-sector medical facilities in Punjab present a dark picture. Now the recent news of Jinnah Hospital being run without any senior medical staff only adds to the deteriorating situation.

There are several major and well-known government-owned medical facilities catering to millions on a daily basis, so the government should strive to improve conditions at these hospitals.
