3 dead, 5 injured as van falls into ravine


ABBOTTABAD: At least three people of a family died and five others injured when a passenger Suzuki van plunged off into a deep ravine near Tarnawai Abbottabad. According to police, a family was going to attend a funeral in Rayala village. While negotiating a sharp turn, the driver lost control on muddy track and the van veered off the road plunging hundreds of feet deep below in a ravine near Tarnawai. Three people lost their lives and five others were critically injured in the crash. The deceased were identified as Nasreen Shafique, Wazir Din and his nephew Wajid Gul Muhammad while the injured were identified as Sabeena Aslam, Yasmeen, Abdul Aziz, Susan and Rubina. Eyewitnesses of the accident alerted the local community and many people rushed to the rescue armed with ropes and sheets. They climbed down the ravine and lifted the bodies and injured to the road. The victims and the deceased were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad.
