Son of SC judge escapes unhurt in Karachi 'attack'

Saad Gulzar, the son of Supreme Court judge Justice Gulzar Ahmed, has escaped unhurt after unidentified armed men opened fire on his vehicle in Karachi’s Korangi neighbourhood on Wednesday, police officials said.

SSP Korangi Noman Siddiqui said armed men in a suspicious vehicle opened fire on Saad’s car near Vita Chowrangi in Korangi industrial area.

However, the suspects fled away due to retaliatory fire from the guards, travelling with the son of the SC judge, Express News reported.

Siddiqui said the incident was a result of a ‘misunderstanding’ as no one was killed or wounded in the exchange of fire. No bullet marks were also found on Saad’s vehicle, he added.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Sindh Police has contradicted SSP Siddiqui’s statement, saying that three suspects were riding motorcycles near Vita Chowrangi and the guards opened fire soon after spotting the suspicious armed men in the area.

A search operation to arrest the suspects has been launched, he added.
