Sessions courts acquit nine in murder cases

FAISALABAD: Different session courts acquitted nine suspects involved in three separate murder cases in the limits of the Factory Area, Sargodha Road and Millat Town police stations.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka acquitted four accused identified as Muhammad Arsalan, Ali Raza, Sumaira and Kiran of murder charges after a compromise was struck between them and the victims’ parties.

The accused had shot dead Ghulam Abbas in Yasir Town over a minor dispute some time back.

The court also acquitted three accused Ashfaq Shah, Qaisar and Zafar from murder charges by giving them the benefit of doubt whereas their fourth accomplice, Sultan, was declared a proclaimed offender. The accused had allegedly shot dead Anees, a resident of Sant Singh Wala, over a dispute during elections.

Meanwhile, Additional Sessions Judge Inam Elahi also acquitted Muhammad Hamza and Ahsan Ali of murder charges after a compromise was struck between the victim’s family and the accused party.

The accused had allegedly shot dead Bilal, a resident of Harjan Pura, Jhang Road, over a minor dispute.

Earlier, in October 2017, four men, accused in a murder case, were acquitted by a sessions court in Lahore after the prosecution failed to establish their involvement in the killing.

A woman, mother of eight children, was accused of killing her own husband, Akram, in connivance with a man named Ali. The latter invited Akram to his home where the woman was already present. The two were accused of attacking the victim with an axe, killing him on the spot.

The suspects are said to have put the man’s corpse in a plastic bag and they dumped it in Block P of Model Town.

An FIR was registered in Faisal Town police station on May 25, 2011. During investigation, police found out that plastic bags had been taken from the drycleaner’s shop by Khalid, the brother of Niamat.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s brother, Aslam, appeared before the court and said he suspected that Akram was having illicit relations with his wife. Ali, Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Munawar and Zahida were nominated in the FIR.
