Kashmir Solidarity Day: Government announces public holiday on February 5


The federal government has announced a public holiday on February 5 to mark Youm-e-Yakhjehti-e-Kashmir (Solidarity with Kashmir Day) across Pakistan, Express News reports.

According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, Pakistan will celebrate Kashmir Day with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.

“February 5 will be a public holiday and all government, semi-government and private offices will remain closed,” the notification reads.

State of Pakistan will observe a one-minute silence in a show of solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their struggle for freedom from India at 10am on February 5, according to the notification.

The people of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) will mark the occasion by forming a human chain of hands to show their support for the people of the occupied valley.

Conferences, demonstrations and events related to the day are been planned in cities across the country, where people will gather together and shed light on the atrocities committed by Indian troops to sabotage the Kashmiri struggle for freedom over the past seven decades.
