London doctor thinks Trump's diet is 'awful' ahead of first presidential medical

US president Donald Trump is set to have his first presidential medical check-up on Friday, BBC reported.

Trump will sit at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, there will be both good news and bad news in the meeting. Trump doesn’t consume alcohol, never has. He says he learnt a lesson from his older brother Fred – an alcoholic who died at the age of 43.

He doesn’t smoke either. “I watch people smoke,” Trump said in 2015. “It looks terrible to me.” However, this is as far as the good news goes.

A recent book revealed that Trump had four major food types during his campaign; McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), pizza and diet coke. According to the authors of the book, Corey Lewandowski – his former campaign manager – dinner for Trump would be “two Big Macs, two Filet-o-Fish, and chocolate malt (milkshake)”.

Trump also doesn’t believe in exercise, an ardent golf player, he still uses a buggy to move. According to one source, he believes the human body is “like a battery, with a finite amount of energy, which exercise only depletes”.

In September 2016, two months before the elections, Trump released his medical records. His total cholesterol was borderline healthy. His blood pressure was in the ideal range, and his organs functioned normally. “In summary,” wrote his long-time doctor Harold Bornstein, “Mr Trump is in excellent physical health.”

But Sara Kayat, a doctor from London, thinks Mr Trump is taking a chance. His diet, she says, sounds ‘awful’. “Not only is he eating food high in fat, and high in salt, he’s less likely to eat fruit and vegetables – because he’s consuming so much other food. A diet low in fruit and veg, and high in saturated fat, is likely to contribute to coronary heart diseases, cancers, and diabetes.”

She is of the opinion that while alcohol and cigarettes are harmful, “physical inactivity is as much of a heart disease risk as smoking.” However, the results of Trump’s medical records do not have to be made public, however, a readout will be given out.
