Democracy directs us not to intervene in legislative matters: CJP Nisar
Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar on Saturday said it is crucial for the judiciary not to intervene in the legislative matters and focus on serving justice faster.
Addressing the media in Karachi, CJP stated saying “We are not here to run the legislative system, it is the parliament’s job to form laws and the implementation is rested upon them too.”
Serving justice late, however, is a massive issue and civilians deserve inexpensive trials. “We are well aware of the fact that we cannot afford to delay cases and hearings and we try our level best that the sitting judges solve cases promptly. Quick hearings and decisions help the judges ease the load too,” he noted.
CJP all set to launch judicial reforms
He also added saying that the judiciary is often blamed for delay in cases but there is much more to the issue.
CJP also said that globally, people are scared to take matters to the court and solve the matters on their own, however, in Pakistan people are encouraged to take matters to the court.
Commending Punjab’s justice system, CJP said that he sees good work there and Punjab has as they have taken assistance from Punjab Information Technology into fold and formed model courts.
CJP has finally launched the initiative for judicial reforms. The chief justice on Saturday started his mission by visiting the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi where he offered Fateha and prayed for the country’s success, peace and tranquility.
He pledged to take judicial reforms to fruition expeditiously so that the general public begins to reap the benefits of this initiative as soon as possible.
The CJP will also chair all Pakistan Chief Justices Conference to launch judicial reforms in the later in the evening.
Moreover, the CJP will spend a busy schedule in the Supreme Court Branch Registry Karachi where he will hear different public interest litigation and will in the evening preside over the concluding session of the third Provincial Judicial Conference 2018 arranged by Sindh Judicial Academy.
Accepting the challenge of reducing huge pendency, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday decided to introduce judicial reforms to mitigate miseries of the litigants.
