Mysterious circumstances: Young man shot dead on Khayaban-e-Ittehad in Karachi

KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in an act of targeted killing in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Saturday evening.

Police officials said that the incident took place when, according to initial investigations, at least two armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on the victim’s car near Bukhari Commercial on Khayaban-e-Ittehad within the limits of the Darakshan police station.

Darakshan SHO Aurangzeb Khattab said that the victim, identified as 22-year-old Intizar Ahmed, was shot once in his head and died on the spot. His body was taken to Jinnah hospital for an autopsy.

‘Targeted Killing’: Two men killed, another injured

Police officials said that the deceased was a resident of Khayaban-e-Badban in DHA and reportedly arrived from abroad. Meanwhile, the police is looking for his family. Khattab said that there were some unconfirmed reports that an unidentified girl was also in his car at the time of incident, however, she has disappeared following the incident.

The officer said that the news about the presence of a girl has yet to be ascertained. The police are also searching for closed-circuit television camera footage to aid investigations.

No case was registered, while further investigation is under way.
