Polio campaign starts tommorow


RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Talat Mehmood Gondal inaugurated the five-day anti-polio campaign by vaccinating minors under 5 years of age.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Gondal said with the coordinated efforts of various departments, no case of polio has been registered since the past seven years in Rawalpindi.

He said provision of healthy environment to masses was our foremost priority, however coordinated efforts were needed to make the campaign successful.

On the occasion, Health Department CEO Muhammad Sohail Ahmed Chaudhry briefed the media that the anti-polio campaign will continue from January 15 to January 19 2018, during which 840,000 children will be vaccinated.

He said 221 UC MOs and 496 areas-incharge had been appointed besides 2,333 mobile teams and 287 fixed points and 119 transit points have been established.

Chaudhry further added that a total 2,739 teams had been designated for this task and health officers will monitor the progress of the campaign and security of polio workers to be arranged as well.
