Court in session for NAB reference hearing against Sharif family

The accountability court hearing a NAB reference against deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar is currently in session in Islamabad, Express News reports.

The court has summoned three witnesses to testify before the judges on Tuesday. The witnesses include Umar Daraz, Nasir Juenjo and Afaq Ahmed. Khawaja Haris, the counsel for Sharif, and Amjad Pervez, who represents Mayram Nawaz and Capt Safdar (retd) will cross-examine the three witnesses.

NAB reference case adjourned till November 7

Sharif’s two sons, Hassan and Hussain, have yet to appear before the trial court. The court declared the two absconders and transferred their case to another bench.

Law enforcement authorities have made fool-proof security arrangements for the Sharif family hearing. Police inside and outside the courtroom have been placed on high alert, and all roads leading to the court have been sealed for the general public.

Talking to reporters outside the courtroom, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said that making a proclaimed offender chief minister of Balochistan has made a joke with the people of Pakistan.
