Police recover missing girl from Lahore house
ISLAMABAD: A teenaged girl*, who had allegedly been kidnapped by her driver earlier in the week, was recovered by the police from a Lahore house on Friday.
According to police officials, the 15-year-old had left her home in Rawalpindi’s Gulrez-II colony for her school in Islamabad’s Sector I-9 on Wednesday morning.
As usual, her family driver drove her to school. In the afternoon, after the school was out, he was supposed to drive her back home to Rawalpindi.
But when she did not return home until evening, with the driver also missing, their cell phones switched off, the family got worried.
After the teenager’s class fellow confirmed to the family that she had gotten into her car with the driver to return home at around noon that day, the family approached the police and lodged a kidnapping case against the driver.
The police subsequently booked the septuagenarian driver for kidnapping and launched an investigation.
Later, officials raided a house in Lahore where they found the girl and the driver.
The girl was taken to a hospital for a medical examination while the driver was arrested.
Officials said that initial investigation had revealed that the driver had forcibly taken the girl to Lahore and had taken her cell phone away but the girl had not resisted his efforts.
