ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has asked Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders that the court’s restraint should not be considered as its weakness.
CJP also said that requests can be made before the court but it cannot be pressurised.
CJ Nisar’s gave these remarks during the hearing of a petition over Elections Reforms Act 2017 challenging the decision to allow a disqualified person to head a political party.

He further added saying that they will do everything for the prestige of judiciary.
The top court has rejected petitioner Sheikh Rasheed’s counsel, Farogh Nasim’s plea to suspend the specific provision that paved way for former premier Nawaz Sharif to become party head.
During the hearing, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq and PML-N senior leader Raja Zafarul Haq also appeared before the bench.

The CJP asked Rafique to not create hindrance for the judiciary otherwise it would be difficult for the next generation to get justice.
Nisar has also put a ban on political statements before media at Supreme Court premises. Farogh Nasim requested the bench to suspend the relevant provision until the final order of the court.
Raja Zafarul Haq requested the bench to give further time for the preparation of case.
The hearing of case has been adjourned till February 6.
