Bank account details of Ishaq Dar and his wife presented before accountability court


The bank account details of former finance minister Ishaq Dar and his family have been submitted to an accountability court currently hearing a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference against him for possession of assets beyond his means of income, Express News reported.

At a hearing in Islamabad on Friday, three witnesses of the prosecution, Muhammad Naeem, Zafar Iqbal, and Kaboos Aziz, recorded their statements in front of Judge Muhammad Bashir.

Zafar Iqbal is a banking expert at NAB Lahore, Muhammad Naeem is from the Excise and Taxation Department Lahore, while Kaboos Aziz is a former director of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

Ishaq Dar can’t finance his lawyers

The credit report from Dar’s bank consists of four pages. Prosecution witness Muhammad Naeem told the court that he received a letter from NAB Lahore on August 15, and he presented himself before an investigation team of the accountability body on August 22.

According to Naeem, there were three vehicles registered under the name of Ishaq Dar in the motor registration authority, and two of these registrations have been transferred.

Zafar Iqbal, in his testimony, revealed that he had been asked to submit the details of Dar’s banking in August 2017. The State Bank of Pakistan summoned the information at the behest of NAB Lahore and according to it, Ishaq Dar and his wife have 15 bank accounts.

Nine of these accounts, according to Iqbal, are in the al Burqa bank, and eight belonged to a company, while one is registered in the name of Tabassum Ishaq.

Iqbal apprised the court that the former finance minister had an amount in excess of Rs80 million at the Parliament House branch of Allied Bank, Rs4.8 million in an account at Bank Alfalah and Rs5.8 million in a Habib Bank account.

The third witness, Kaboos Aziz, also gave his testimony in the trial against Dar. He said that he had appeared before NAB Lahore in August 2017 to present details on the family tree of the former finance minister.
