Rs825m approved for uplift schemes


LAHORE: An uplift scheme of Rs825 million has been approved to improve the sewerage and water supply system of Shakarghar. Besides the approval, the first installment of Rs75 million has also been released for starting work on the project without any delay. This was stated by Member Punjab Assembly PP-133 Shakargarh Alhaj Maulana Ghayasuddin on Sunday. He said that approval of the scheme and prompt release of funds were part of the commitment of government to improve the facilities for public. He added that Tehsil Hospital Shakarghar was also being upgraded to district hospital. This step was aimed to improve health facilities at the hospital for catering to the needs of 1.5 million population of the area, he said. A clean drinking water plant has also been installed to facilitate people, he added. The MPA said that in his current tenure as MPA, a lot of other projects of roads, schools and hospitals have been completed in Tehsil Shakarghar. He said that the government has also brought improvement in road network of this area.
