Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz clarified that Rao Anwar had never used any of his planes, saying he hoped that “the culprit behind Naqeebullah Mehsud’s murder will be brought to justice”.
“I have two personal aircraft for the last eight years and none of them have ever been used by Rao Anwar,” the business tycoon said while referring to the suspended Malir SSP who has been on the run since the extrajudicial killing of the South Waziristan youth.
Addressing the ‘Pakhtuns of Karachi’ and the parents and relatives of the deceased, Malik Riaz said, “I’m as aggrieved [on Naqeebullah‘s death] as his parents.”
“I think of Naqeebullah as my own son and I stand in complete solidarity with his parents,” he added.
SC deadline to arrest Rao Anwar ends today
The Bahria Town CEO went on to say that he “never supported any criminal person,” adding, “My record in this regard is clean.”
While concluding, the businessman said, “The law will take its course against whoever that is responsible [for the murder] and it will not spare him.”
Earlier today, a police party raided Anwar’s Islamabad residence as the deadline earlier given to IGP Sindh by the Supreme Court to arrest him had ended.
A joint investigation team had concluded that the youth from South Waziristan was killed in a ‘staged’ encounter, apart from stating that Anwar conducted 745 encounters in seven years in which 444 people were killed.
