We will fight tribal chieftains in elections: former home minister

QUETTA: -Former provincial home minister Sarfraz Bugti has said that “we are going to fight sardars and nawabs” in the upcoming general elections 2018.

“The beauty of democracy is that the tribal chieftains, who used to run their own courts, are now appearing before the country’s courts requesting for approval of their nomination papers to contest the elections,” said Bugti, who is also a member of the Balochistan Awami Party, while talking to the media outside the Balochistan High Court on Saturday.

The former minister said, “With support of the people the tribal chieftains, who deliberately kept the people of their areas deprived and uneducated, will taste defeat in the elections.”

Lambasting the tribal chieftains, particularly Nawab of the Bugti tribe Aali Bugti, the former minister said, “On July 25, our fight will be against the people who think they are above the law. Despite the scorching heat in Balochistan, elections activities are continuing with full fervour.”

Bugti had challenged Aali Bugti’s nomination papers for PB-10 seat in the appellate tribunal, alleging that Aali didn’t share details of his assets.
