Model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak calls out unrealistic beauty standards for women

Known for taking the route less travelled, Pakistani model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak previously made headlines after she chose to revamp her style and go for a pixie-cut.

However, some Pakistanis didn’t agree with this and went on to bash the model for her decision. But Saheefa likes to break stereotypes and isn’t one to back down so quickly.

Taking to Instagram, the budding starlet addressed the unrealistic beauty standards expected of women. She questioned, “Freckles, blemishes, fine lines, open pores, dark circles, acne, scars, fatness. Why should a woman worry so much for all these things?”

“Where did that self doubt come from? Why don’t I like seeing my face in the mirror without a concealer? No matter how nicely dressed I am, no matter how well spoken and educated or successful I am, there’s always a doubt! A self doubt,” added the 25-year-old.

Saheefa went on to write, “Why do I feel the need to shave my arms and legs every second day and let’s not forget about the painful hot wax process. I am more than this. YOU are more than this.”

Previously, Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra also opened up on the unrealistic beauty standards  women have to adhere to and what it takes to be a woman in entertainment. She said, “It’s wrong that women are made to believe that it’s okay to be objectified in order to succeed.”

Chopra admitted that she enjoys spending time on herself to look good, adding that women should not be judged for dressing up for themselves. She told that it’s a form of self-care.

“As women, we don’t prioritise ourselves enough. I’m not saying become vain but sometimes, you just need a moment,” explained the Dostana actor.

“We see women of all sizes and colour, modelling, acting and using their strength to reach a goal. However, it’s the mindset of society that needs to change. People need to realise that a plus-size woman or a woman of colour should not be a ‘check in the box’.”
