The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday adjourned the hearing of the contempt case against former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal till September 5, reported Express News.
Iqbal’s lawyer stated that his client had surrendered himself completely to the court, therefore requesting that all court proceedings against his client should be put on hold indefinitely. The court, however, rejected the request.
The court observed that Iqbal’s reply sounded more like his own applause rather than an admission of his mistake.
Justice Aatir Mehmood stated that “if the court’s decision is in your favour then the judiciary is fine or else it is corrupt”.
“In one instance, you say you will not repeat your mistake again, but you do the same as soon as you leave the courtroom and say your party is being targeted by the judiciary,” the court remarked.
