Social activist Jibran Nasir was taken into custody from outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Monday.
Nasir posted a video on Facebook of his arrest, in which he can be heard saying he was stopped by the roadside and forcibly whisked away.
Media reports suggest that he has been shifted to Frere police station.
According to the social worker, a case should be registered against him if he has committed a crime.
