IBTA awards licenses to blood banks


ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Blood Transfusion Authority (IBTA) renewed licences of 18 public and private blood banks for 2018-19. IBTA Chairman Prof Hasan Abbas Zaheer awarded the renewed licenses at a consultative workshop. The authority inspects blood banks and awards licenses annually. The objective of the meeting was to share the progress and achievements of the IBTA since its revival in 2013. The workshop participants included representatives from all the registered and licensed blood banks functioning in the Islamabad Capital Territory. Partners from the provincial blood transfusion programmes and the provincial blood transfusion authorities were also invited as special guests. The IBTA chairman urged the blood bank representatives to continuously implement the national standards in their blood banks.
