Kashmiris’ long road to freedom

FAISALABAD: Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani’s second death anniversary was observed the past weekend. Post the barbarous killing of the Kashmiri freedom movement leader, the atrocities of the Indian forces in the region picked up pace with increased use of force to suppress the rising dissenting voice in the valley. As events took turn for the worst, recently India’s BJP pulled out of the coalition government in Kashmir, whereas the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights corroborated India’s gruesome acts of brutality in the region.

Much like the Palestinian cause, Kashmir’s fight for freedom and the right of self-determination has become the longest struggle in recent history of the world, that with every passing day only strengthens the will of the Kashmiris to stand strong in the face of the Indian brutality and the non-existent will of the Indian leaders to resolve the issue.
