LAHORE: This letter is in response to Salman Shoaib’s column, ‘Why Pakistanis should elect Imran Khan’ published in this newspaper on July 10th. The article well makes a case for Imran Khan and his capabilities to become the next prime minister of the country, however, only the very naïve would see Imran’s work as a humanitarian, who built a cancer hospital and an educational institution as the sole reason for him to qualify as voters’ right choice.
One does not need to go beyond Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to evaluate IK party’s performance in the province. Apart from the improvement of the police, there isn’t much the party can boast about. K-P’s literacy rate is still rather lower than that of Punjab, which had been governed by a party Imran Khan is highly critical of. Also Peshawar’s Rapid Bus Transit Project is still in limbo and has rather become an inconvenience for people.
It is important to present both the sides of a case, otherwise it becomes only an opinion. With that the decision then lies with the informed to decide who to vote for.
