ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Thursday conducted a flag march with the objective of maintaining peace and tranquility in the city and to demonstrate security measures.
A convoy of police vans started the march from Pakistan Sports Complex and culminated at Zero Point after passing through Rawal Dam Chowk, Shehzad Town, Tramri Chowk, Lehtrar Road, Khana Bridge, Koral Chowk, PWD Housing Society, Expressway and Faizabad.
Police have made comprehensive security arrangements to protect the lives and property of the citizens, SSP-Operations Najeebur Rehman Bugvi said.
He added that security preparations had been finalised for the capital ahead of elections.
SP Rural Zone Liaquat Hayat Niazi, SDPOs, SHOs, Islamabad Traffic Police, and Rescue 15 officials took part in the flag march.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Capital Territory police have decided to not allow any kind of leave to officials until July 31 keeping in view the security requirement for election duty.
“Maximum police strength is required for deployment of officers on security and traffic duties. It is, therefore, directed that no officer/official of ICT Police posted in Security and Traffic Divisions may be granted any kind of leave including casual, earned, and station leave till July 31, except in cases of extreme emergency,” said a circular issued by DIG Security Waqar Ahmed Chauhan.
