The accused’s lawyer filed for bail on his behalf after depositing a security bond of Rs0.1 million. The court was also informed that charges of murder, kidnapping and other serious crimes have been filed against the respondent.

The judge also directed the authorities to not arrest Hussain.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, the former police official said that he was very happy to return to his country, and will soon “unveil the truth”.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered authorities to produce the suspended police officer before the court by July 27.

The accused Hussain is allegedly involved in extrajudicial killings and land-grabbing besides having connections with the underworld. Acting Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq passed the order after a federal law officer told the court that Boxer was in Pakistan.

The ruling was made during the proceedings of a petition filed by Jafar Rafi, the father-in-law of Hussain, seeking protection of his son-in-law’s life. The petitioner contended that he feared that Boxer might be killed in a fake police encounter.
