Police registers case after aerial firing reported at Asad Umer’s political gathering


ISLAMABAD: Police on Saturday registered a report after an incident of aerial firing was reported at a political gathering of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asad Umer.

 

The incident occurred early Saturday morning and the report was lodged in Ramna police station. Aerial shots were fired late night during Asad Umar’s corner meeting that took place in G-10.

The report stated that five gunshots were fired after vehicles reportedly belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) passed through the area and were stopped by the police. According to police, no one has been nominated or arrested in this case yet.

On June 20, another incident of violence was reported when shots were allegedly fired at the electoral office of PML-N candidate Anjum Aqeel. A case was registered at Golra police station.

“Four bullet shells have been recovered from the crime scene, protection should be provided,” stated Advocate Zain Qureshi. SHO Golra maintained that shots had been fired outside the office and a complaint has been lodged.
