New govt and Balochistan

LAHORE: According to a recent news report, 90 per cent of the funding received by the country under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was allotted to three projects falling on the Eastern Belt of the project, whereas many social-sector initiatives and numerous projects falling on the Western Belt have not benefited equally from the development made under the same. The new government should focus on the underdevelopment of the Balochistan province and the regions that have been neglected under CPEC and ensure a fairer resource distribution mechanism among provinces.

Secondly, law and order in the northwestern regions should be prioritised. Balochistan experienced several tragic incidents in the run-up to the polls, so big political parties did not organise political gatherings there and the top leaders chose to stay away from the province. The new government must not neglect the province.
