PML-N, PPP leaders weigh future course of action after polls
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership on Sunday took stock of the situation after the elections and discussed joining hands in parliament, Express News reported.
The PPP negotiating committee met former speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq at his residence on Sunday.
A wide variety of options including poll results, forming the government, boycotting parliament, as well as, not taking the oath of office were all on the agenda.
PPP leader Farhatullah Babar, while apprising the media after the meeting, said that, “Both of us have come to an agreement that the people’s mandate was stolen on election day.”
Babar added that the Election Commission of Pakistan was helpless in reigning in their election staff.

“The ECP chief must step down after this quagmire of an election,” he added.
“We’ve also decided how to proceed in the future and we won’t let go of the platform of the parliament to engage in structured discourse,” he added.
The PPP leader said that both parties would also take on board the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
“After this we’ll have a final meeting where we will share with you [the media] our plan,” he said.
The former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly said that, “its clear that we’ve rejected the results of these polls but we can’t leave the platform of the parliament”.
“Our party [PPP] has nothing to do with forming a coalition government in Punjab, all we want to do is be a part of a robust opposition,” Shah claimed.
